Anouk's proposal was very simple but from this simplicity a lot of wonderful material came out. Her main question was, how each of us can document and recreate a certain dance experience. Departing from Lisa Nelson Eye-Hand coordination we started to explore following a certain verbal score while she was repeatedly inviting us to follow our own interest (quoting Lisa Nelson again).

 This Idoc was made to share what I personally found out during this session, triggered by the physical exploration proposed by Anouk, but also trying to figure out how to respond  to the 3 main questions Anouk proposed to the group

I wanted to document the traces of the ephemeral dance of two bodies meeting. To be more specific, I was interested in document the shadow of one body meeting with he shadow of the other body. A hand is touching the shadow of another hand creating the illusion of a hand touching another hand or a body in contact with another body.

I visualize this as a series of images, or as an extremely slow motion video. This illusion created in the space of a body meting another body was produced by the upper lights of the room and having the body situated in between these sources of light. As a consequence, a many times- reproduced body is related to a shadow, and this some how recreated the concept of ephemerality.

I found a  quite poetical way of document the sensation of meeting or encountering somebody else while being away from each other’s body.

The result was this series of pictures I called:

“We are so far, yet so close”.
