Notes... documentation of the workshop "Visual Layers and Layers of Perception" by Laurent Ziegler http://www.idocde.net/idocs/498 I wanted to start collecting the references from our lively discussion in the workshop. I didn't take too many notes... I was more engaged than documenting :D

...still I gathered some notes as a reference and decided to publish them.

"Waking Life" - a movie with lot's of interesting quotes more can be found:
General Info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waking_Life
Trailer http://vimeo.com/16970585

"Camera Lucida" - a book by Roland Barthes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camera_Lucida_%28book%29

Here are things that I don't have the references yet or just didn't put in details:
- The layers of story in the radio interview (Video Clip, forgot the name of the moderator so I can't find it :-)
- The cities without advertisment São Paulo, photos by Tony de Marco
- Movie related to the advertisment ... Aliens have taken over the world "They Live" Trailer
- The cities/places "without" people http://www.lucieandsimon.com/works/silent_world
- The social and political changes in Turkey and Brazil, (for now see various media coverage, e.g. http://www.idocde.net/pages/45)
- ... and many more things

I don't know if this will ever be extended, if the official documentation of the workshop is going to be published it might fit there as a comment or reference space. Please note that these references are of course out of context and do not explain themselves, unfortunately I won't be able to provide this but the video documentation of the event might help a bit. The IDOC proposal might provide a frist understanding of the framework.
Please feel free to send me a message to make you a co-author to make the sketchy details more complete.

Personal notes in regards to the class:
I enjoyed the lively discussion, the guidance and flexibilty that was facilitated by Laurent. It allowed for a very engaging discussion a broad range of topics and participation of everybody with personal experiences and exchange.
As I come from a media/visual arts/photography background this workshop fits very well as I can relate to a lot that is being said. The really interesting part is when this gets mixed with dancers, movers, bodyworkers as they bring in their view that without that relation to a field that I know I would have way more difficulties to access that new information. It is the second time I have participated in a workshop that has this combination the other one being CHOREO-PHOTO-GRAPHY a composition workshop by David Bergé and Elizabeth Waterhouse in 2011. I personally see this interdisciplinary as the most fruitful starting point for discovery.

I am still working on material that I took from the workshop, but that is another process altogether :D
