Holding on and Letting go
The class is themed around Holding on and Letting go and is based around finding a personally motivated space to examine this duality on various levels. Physically, through playing with how one initiates the other, looking at the relationships between freedom and stability, spilling and anchoring, when we initiate and follow through movements. Its also encourages space to observe the actions of holding on and letting go as emotional and psychological states, and how this relates to our body's ability to learn and change, initiate and claim.
The class incorporates a mix of teaching methods: some structured, lead exercises that are simple enough to facilitate awareness, involve work with breath, ground and touch and draw from chi-Kung, yoga energy work, whereas other more open- ended exploratory tasks encourage participants to witness themselves in relation to others and place themselves as the subject and motivator of their moving, ever-changing experience. The noticing of impermanence is a central theme that often emerges.
